Inner Thigh Exercise: Lower Extremity D1 Flexion

D1 Flexion is one of the patterns described in the classic book, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation.

If you're a fitness professional, you need to own this book. Just look at the pictures and follow along if the reading is a little too deep for you. (It's okay - I promise.)

This is a trick exercise because you're actually working your left inner thigh muscles and your right inner thigh muscles at the same time.

You see, one set of adductors is working to bring your leg across your body while the other set of adductors is working to stabilize your standing leg (that's what your so-called "adductors" really do).

You don't need the fancy machine you see in the video. You can do this exercise using the low pulley of the cable crossover machine you'll find in virtually any gym.
